ESB crews have been working since early this morning to restore power to thousands of homes left without electricity due to high winds and stormy conditions.
Nearly 3,000 homes in counties Donegal, Meath and Dublin were without power at one point this morning.
ESB networks crews are continuing to work to restore power to all areas.
Donegal was the worst affected county with 2,500 customers without power at lunchtime today.
The North West had been battered by high winds with gusts of up to 120 kilometres an hour overnight.
However the winds have abated and supply should be restored to all areas by late afternoon.
The worst affected areas were Ballybofey, Letterkenny, Buncrana, New towncunningham and Moville.
Elsewhere in the country lights went out in Delvin in Co Meath at around 9 am - leaving 800 homes without electricity for a time.
A further 1,100 customers in Trim experienced an outage at 11 am.
In Dublin 220 homes in Malahide are also affected.
Heavy winds which battered the northern half of the country have now eased after the forecaster issued a "Status Orange" warning earlier with Ulster, Connacht and Leinster worst affected.
