Up to 4 thousand people have turned up to a homecoming in Cork city for Ireland's new world champion.
Rob Heffernan - who won gold in the 50 kilometre walk at the World Athletic Championships in Russia - is on stage in the centre of the city speaking to the crowd.
He travelled on an open top bus for a parade along Patrick's Street earlier.
Heffernan's two children - 10 year old Cathal and 8 year old Meghan - watched his winning race at home on television.
