Thousands of people have welcomed Shane Lowry home to Clara, Co Offaly this evening following his success at the Open.
The 32-year-old became only the fifth Irish player in the championship's 148-year history to lift the claret jug.
Shane returned home to Clara GAA club with his prize earlier this evening.
The golfer said he was "overwhelmed" by the response.
He said: "It's incredible... I didn't know if I was good enough to win something like this, so I never did think I'd have something like this in Clara.
"The only thing I've seen like this before is when they win a county championship and they come and march through the town."

Lowry claimed victory by six shots at Royal Portrush.
He'd missed the cut at the event for the past four years.
