Up to 80,000 people are expected to attend the national commemoration of the 1913 Lockout in Dublin this weekend.
The event marks the 100th annversary of what is described as the greatest industrial struggle in the country's history, involving around 20,000 people, over trade union membership.
The ceremony, which will be attended by President Michael D Higgins, will begin at midday on Saturday at the Jim Larkin statue on O'Connell Street.
The organisers say the area will remain open for business as usual, however O'Connell Street will be closed to traffic between 7am and 6pm.
Padraig Yeates, a 1913 Lockout historian, says the event was a defining moment in Irish history:
