Students may have had to have their temperatures taken and wear masks to school if the Leaving Cert exams went ahead.
Strict social distancing measures and time limits in exam halls would have also been applied.
Students, Superintendents, or other school staff who were showing symptoms, self-isolating, quarantining, had been exposed to the virus or living with a family member who is symptomatic would not have been allowed into exam halls.
Last week it was announced that the traditional exams were to be replaced by predictive grades. The decision was supported by the two main teaching unions.
However, the Teachers Union of Ireland is now calling for a protocol to protect teachers from students or parents trying to influence their grades.
President of the TUI Seamas Lahart has called it a "foolish practice" and that any attempt at lobbying will be noted.
Many teachers have reported an increase in contact from students since the announcement was made, with some students now handing up work that was due weeks ago.
Teachers Unions are meeting with the Department of Education again today to discuss the new grading system.
The Department says that it will be issuing teachers with detailed guidelines and training on how to mark this year's exams.
