2 teenagers have been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a man in Cork city overnight.
The man who is aged in his late 20's or early 30's was discovered on the street on Ballyhooley Road shortly after 1 am this morning with serious head injuries.
The two men were arrested shortly after 9 am this morning in the Mayfield area of the city.
They are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The scene remains sealed off and Garda technical experts have begun a forensic examination.
Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident.
A review of CCTV footage is also underway.
