Teenagers are influenced by cigarette packaging

Young people say glamorous cigarette branding would encourage them to start smoking – while plain packs have the opposite effect.

Irish people start smoking younger than any others in Europe – and 20 percent of 15-17 year olds are smokers.

The Government plans to introduce plain packaging on all cigarettes by early next year.
