A teenage boy has admitted murdering Cork IT student Cameron Blair.

A sentence hearing for the boy, who can’t be named by order of the court, will take place early next month.

Cameron Blair died in Cork University Hospital on January 16th after being stabbed in the neck at a house party on Bandon Rd. on the southside of Cork city.

He was 20-years-old.

A 17 year old boy was charged with his murder, and sent forward for trial to the current sittings of the Central Criminal Court in Dublin.

He pleaded GUILTY when the charge was put to him today.

He was further remanded to Oberstown Detention Centre where a psychological assessment will be carried out ahead of his sentence hearing on April 3rd.

A request to have the hearing held in Cork was turned down due to measures being taken by the Courts Service to manage sittings during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Two others are also facing charges in connection with Cameron’s death.

One of them is just 14 so reporting restrictions have been put in place in relation to the others in order to protect his identity.

Cameron’s family will be given the opportunity to deliver a Victim Impact Statement at next month’s hearing.
