A teenage boy has been arrested after a three-day armed standoff with Gardaí in Donegal.
The incident took place at a house in Letterkenny.
At around 5:45 pm on Wednesday Gardaí responded to reports of a domestic incident at a property in the town.
They discovered a teenager alone in the house, barricaded in with a shotgun and ammunition.
A 54-hour standoff followed with Gardai Crisis Negotiators and a number of armed Garda units tasked to the scene, supported by Consultant Psychiatrists and staff from the child and family agency, TUSLA.
Gardai say it reached a peaceful conclusion at 12:30 am last night after a tactical intervention by its Emergency Response Unit.
No one was injured in the incident.
The teenage boy was arrested and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
He's being held at a Donegal Garda Station where he's receiving a medical assessment.
The incident is being reported after Gardai lifted a news blackout.
