An Bord Pleanala has refused planning permission for a 14 million euro steel roller-coaster at Tayto Park because it would be too noisy for neighbours.

Meath County Council gave the go ahead in February for 'Coaster 2021' as part of expansion plans at the Co. Meath attraction.

But local four residents objected, claiming that the anticipated screaming by passengers would increase noise disturbance in the area.

'Coaster 2021' was to be 972 metres long and one metre lower than the park's 32 metre high Cú Chulainn wooden coaster and was expected to add 40 full and part-time jobs at the park.
