One of three men shot at Bray Boxing Club in June 2018, has told the Central Criminal Court, that he had to step over a body as he left the gym.

He was giving evidence in the trial of Gerard Cervi, from East Wall in Dublin, who has pleaded NOT guilty to murder and two charges of attempted murder.

Ian Britton was part of an early morning exercise class at Bray Boxing Club on June 5th, 2018.

The class, led by boxing coach, Pete Taylor, was just about to get going when he noticed a figure at the door moving a gun towards another gymgoer, Bobby Messett.

He said he heard maybe eight or ten loud shots and described going into shock and feeling a fierce pain in his hip area.

Britton said he managed to get to Pete’s office where he hid until it was safe to leave. As he did, he said he had to step over Bobby’s body.

He said Pete ran towards the gunman to try and protect everyone and he noticed him lying flat out on the ground at the other side of the gym on his way out.

Gerard Cervi denies murdering Bobby and has also pleaded NOT guilty to the attempted murder of Pete Taylor and Mr Britton.
