New taxi fares come in to effect from today.
Journey costs will rise by 12% following a public consultation and review by the National Transport Authority.
Drivers will also be obliged to install card machine to ensure debit and credit cards.
Taxi drivers will need to have their meters re-calibrated and sealed to reflect the new fares.
Tommy, who's a taxi driver working at Dublin airport, says he would rather fares stayed the same.
"It's costing me money. I had to pay €120 out to get my metre rectified and now I've to pay another €70 or €90 for it to be sealed. 12 per cent, no. I would prefer if they left the fares they were. People are paying enough anyway."
