The Taoiseach has warned that the country is not in a position yet to ease the current lockdown measures.
The restrictions are due to expire next Tuesday.
Leo Varadkar is urging people to ignore speculation about how they might be lifted over the coming weeks.
The Cabinet will decide on Friday if any lockdown measures can be eased.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says "We really have to look at things like the number of patients that are in our ICUs with COVID, the number of new cases, the number of deaths."
Yesterday it was revealed that 59 more people have died from covid-19 here, while 229 new confirmed cases were also announced.
It brought the death toll here to 1,159 - while the number of confirmed cases is now 19,877.
Speaking this morning Leo Varadkar said "I don’t think I would be out of school by saying that those numbers just are not good enough yet."
"Maybe it will change significantly by Friday but, as things stand, I don’t think we are there yet. There are still a lot of patients – over 100 patients in our ICUS with COVID."
