The Taoiseach is to make a live TV address this Sunday.

Enda Kenny will speak to the nation at 9:30pm on Sunday night to mark Ireland's exit from the EU-IMF bailout.

It's the second time the Taoiseach will have made a live TV address, following a speech before the Budget two years ago.

Sunday will mark the official expiry of Ireland's three-year funding deal with the IMF - officially marking the end of the bailout.

The separate deal with the European Commission and European Central Bank lapsed last Sunday, December 8.

The Taoiseach's speech will mean broadcasters carrying the speech will also have to set aside time to carry mandatory responses from the other major political leaders, in order to ensure adequate balance in public broadcasting.
