A pre-Christmas general election has been ruled out by the Taoiseach.
Leo Varadkar has resisted pressure from within his own party to go to the country early.
The Taoiseach apparently left no room for interpretation when he met his Ministers this morning, cutting out the wriggle room and saying there will not be a general election in 2019.
Some of his front bench had been pushing for a November election for a number of reasons.
But Leo Varadkar is sticking by his public preference for an election in May 2020.
He's resisted the calls to follow the UK into a Christmas election, which has left quite a few TDs across the country breathing a sigh of relief.
