The Taoiseach has been formally invited to the White House for the annual St Patrick's Day meeting.
Micheál Martin will travel to Washington DC and Texas next week as part of the Taoiseach's annual visit to the US.
President Donald Trump has written to the Taoiseach inviting him for a meeting in the Oval Office on March 12th.
In his letter, President Trump congratulated Michael Martin on his recent appointment, and said he looks forward to the US and Ireland working together.
A spokesperson said the Taoiseach is 'pleased to have received the invitation' and is 'delighted to accept it'.
The Irish Embassy in Washington will continue to engage with the White House team on the finer details.
