Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said a sexual assault on two children in Athlone is "simply appalling".
He's pledging to ensure that child and family support services are put in place for the victims of the attack.
The Taoiseach was speaking in the Dáil after a man appeared in court on four rape charges in connection with last Saturday's incident.
