The Taoiseach and other EU leaders will discuss Covid-19 vaccine supply problems at a virtual summit today and tomorrow.
They will also vote on whether to expand restrictions on sending injections abroad.
This two-day summit is taking place by video conference due to the extent of Covid-19 throughout Europe.
Cases rose by 13 percent across the continent last week.
The key focus of the summit, though, will be the Covid vaccine supply problems, with AstraZeneca in particular.
Leaders will also vote on whether to expand restrictions on sending jabs abroad and to Britain in particular.
The EU and the UK last night said they'd work together to find a 'win, win solution' for both sides.
US president Joe Biden will join the summit by video-conference this evening.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin says he looks forward to the engagement, and that the EU and US need to strengthen their co-operation.
