The Tánaiste says couples getting married in August should plan on the basis of a 50 person limit at their wedding.
That's the capacity limit that is currently in place.
It had been hoped that this would be increased to 100 from next month.
The government had previously said that increasing attendance would be subject to the epidemiological situation.
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar said that anyone planning a wedding in August should operate on the basis that they will have 50 guests.
He advised, "that might change - it might change to 100, but I wouldn't plan on that basis".
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says a final decision on wedding attendances in August and other issues will be made next week.
