More than one million children have been forced to leave Syria to flee the ongoing crisis.
The UN Refugee agency confirmed that the tragic milestone of two million refugees has been reached - making it the worst humanitarian crisis in recent history.
In addition, at least four and a half million people have been displaced internally since the conflict began over two years ago.
