The Union of Students in Ireland says last night's system failure of grants system SUSI caused students great anguish.
The website for applying for grants online crashed last night - leaving thousands of students unable to meet the original deadline.
The deadline's been extended until Monday - but calls are being made for an investigation into the matter.
