Survey Finds Remote Workers Face High Levels Of Demotivation & Loneliness

People who are still working from home are reporting high rates of disconnection, demotivation and loneliness.

A 'Work Trends Index' by Microsoft has also found that one third of hybrid workers struggle to disconnect from their duties.

27% of workers said that a lack of flexible working options led them to look for new jobs last year.

Human Resources specialist with the HR Suite - Caroline Reidy - believes remote and hybrid working is here to stay, and now is the time to address the difficulties.

"You've a lot of people who may have got their job during Covid and never met their colleagues."

She says companies need to start "sieving through the best way of maximising remote working".

"We need to find out and see what's working and what needs improvement."

The survey also shows 44 percent of employees believe it is harder to build trust with colleagues in a remote or hybrid environment.

A third said their team culture had deteriorated.

Caroline thinks companies need to relook at how collaboration, social interaction and communication is being done in their companies.

The research was carried out among more than 600 workers across Ireland.
