Supermarket Data Shows Barry's Wins Battle Of The Tea Bags

Barry's was the nations favourite tea in 2023.

Data from Tesco Ireland, shows Barry's was the choice of 56% of customers last year, with 44% preferring Lyons.

Only three counties had a slight preference for Lyons - Donegal, Louth and Monaghan - while Cork has been revealed as Barry’s biggest fan, with 80% of the county choosing it over Lyons (20%).

Overall, 2.3 million boxes of tea bags were bought in Tesco stores in Ireland last year.

When it comes to crisps, Tayto (96%) was the overwhelming winner in popularity over King (4%). 11.7 million bags of Cheese & Onion and Salt & Vinegar Crisps were bought in Tesco stores in 2023.

When it comes to ketchup, three quarters chose Heinz (70%), over Chef (30%).

Milk was the most purchased item in Tesco stores across Ireland last year, ranking as numbers 1, 2, 3 and 5 in the top-five most purchased products, avocados came in fourth.
