A man has been convicted of the capital murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan in Castlerea, Co Roscommon.
Stephen Silver, with an address in Foxford, Co Mayo, was convicted after just under nine hours of jury deliberations and is now facing a minimum of forty years in prison.

He had denied the murder charge, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
Today's conviction comes after a jury failed to reach a verdict following a trial last year.
