Met Eireann has issued status red wind warnings for both Kerry & Clare.
It comes as Storm Hannah makes landfall.
In Kerry, winds will reach mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with violent gusts of up to 150 km/h in places.
They will occur between 6pm and 8pm.
In Clare, winds of up to 150km/h are expected between 8pm and 11pm.
People in both counties are being advised to stay indoors.
An orange alert is currently in place for Cork, Clare Kerry and Limerick, and is being extended to Galway, Tipperary and Waterford later this evening.
An overnight yellow warning is in place for counties in the west, north-west and south-east.
