Leading sports executives will take place today to discuss increasing incidents of racism and violence in sports.
Minister of State for Sport, Thomas Byrne, will meet with the heads of the GAA, the FAI and the IRFU, as well as the CEO of Sport Ireland.
Minister Byrne said the discussions will focus on how to prevent racism in sports.
"There's no point simply [just] condemning actions. I think action is required from the governing bodies and from the system as a whole.
"We want to learn what best practice is and we want to see how we can improve things and how Sport Ireland can work towards developing a code of conduct for sports and for fans as well".
“As a sporting community, it is imperative that we demonstrate that there is simply no place for violence and racism in sport".
