Met Eireann has upgraded its weather alert for tonight in a number of counties.
An orange warning for five counties in Munster - Clare, Cork, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford - which will come into effect at midnight tonight and until midday on Thursday.
There's a warning for significant accumulations of snow, slippery conditions for pedestrians, very difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility, delays to public transport as well as animal welfare issues.

The whole country is under a status yellow low temperature ice warning from 8pm on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, from 9pm, a status yellow snow-ice warning will kicks in for another nine counties - Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford, Wicklow, Munster, Galway - where snowfall accumulations is expected.
Temperatures dropped to around -3C in places overnight on Tuesday, with low temperatures forecast for the coming days.
Met Éireann has an advisory for cold weather in place until Friday night.
There are warnings of "wintry hazards including frost and ice", with "potential for sleet, snow and hail".
