Snoozing your alarm in the morning can be good for you.
Researchers say hitting the snooze button for the 30 minutes before you get up can actually make you more alert.
Scientists in Sweden, found the performance boost may be due to not being woken too abruptly from REM sleep, which is when most dreaming happens.
The study, at Stockholm University, found the most commonly reported reason for snoozing was ‘feeling too tired to wake up’ (25%), followed by ‘it feels good’ (17%), and wanting ‘to wake up more slowly/softly’ (17%).
Researchers found 30 minutes of dozing either improved memory and concentration in the 31 participants analysed or had no impact on their mental performance.
