Smartwatches - like Fitbits and Apple Watches - have been linked to an increase in cheating in college exams.
Most third level institutions ban the wearing of the watches in exams halls.
According to the Irish Times, NUI Galway has recorded 83 breaches of exam regulations this year - with the watches a key factor.
Meanwhile, Trinity College has had 42 breaches so far in 2019 - with 10 incidents of cheating.
