The Skoda Yeti had the highest NCT pass rate last year at 81.3%.
According to figures published by the Road Safety Authority, the only other car model to get a pass rate over 80% was the Peugeot 208 supermini.
Other models with high pass rates include the Nissan Juke, Volkswagon Tiguan, Dacia Sandero and Dacia Duster.
The model with the lowest pass rate was the Hyundai Trajet, with just 20% of vehicles passing.
The Vauxhall Vectra, Seat Cordoba, Chevrolet and Mazda 323 were among the models with low pass rates.
The oldest car submitted for NCT last year was a 1932 Rolls Royce which passed.
1.34 million vehicles were tested at 47 test centres in 2018 and only 49.2% passed the initial test, an unchanged rate from 2017.
