Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been killed after being shot while giving a campaign speech.
He was 67.
Mr Abe, who led the country between 2012 and 2020, was taken to hospital after collapsing clutching his chest in the western city of Nara.
A 41-year-old man, who's a former member of the country's self-defence forces has been arrested.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says he's "deeply shocked" by the gun attack.
