€62 million in funding's being made available to schools to improve ventilation.
The minor works grant will see €45 million go to primary and special schools, and €17 million to post-primary schools.
It'll allow for improvements like the purchase of HEPA air filters.
Education Minister Norma Foley says they can choose what they need to spend the money on:
"Could be anything floor coverings, to window blinds to IT equipment.
"It does include small-scale ventilation improvements as a short-term mitigation measure should they be required.
"Schools know their own needs best. Autonomy is given to schools via the minor works grant to identify what those measures may be."
