Schools in counties worst affected by snow have closed this morning, and motorists in border counties are being advised not to travel.
There's a status yellow warning for ice and snow for counties Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Westmeath, Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo, until 12pm on Friday afternoon.
A separate warning for Co Wicklow has also been issued, and remains in place until 3pm today.
A Status Yellow rain warning is also in place intil 3am Saturday morning across Dublin, Louth, Meath, Wicklow with persistent rain resulting in localised flooding and hazardous travelling conditions.
Rain🌧️, sleet & snow🌨️ across Ulster, N Leinster & E Connacht will move S over the country today, transitioning to rain by this afternoon, except on higher ground.
Hail is possible too.
Drier conditions will follow from the northwest later.
