Emergency services have admitted one of two people killed when a plane crash-landed in San Francisco may have been hit by a fire truck.
Investigations are underway into whether the teenager died after escaping from the aircraft.
It's also emerged the pilot had never landed a Boeing 777 before.
Best friends
The Chinese teenagers who died in the accident were classmates, they have been named as Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia.
They were from the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang. Both were aged 16 and were travelling to the US to take part in a summer camp.
Their families are travelling to San Francisco to formally identify their bodies and repatriate them to China.
Fire Truck
It was confirmed this evening that authorities are investigating the possibility that one of the girls was hit by a fire truck while trying to escape from the aircraft.
Authorities are awaiting post mortem examination results from the coroner to confirm the cause of death.
Survivors
Thirty people are still in hospital following the crash - 8 of them are said to be in a critical condition.
Doctors say the critical patients are paralysed or have serious spinal injuries.
141 of the 291 passengers were Chinese, 77 were Korean and 61 were Americans.
