Michael O'Leary says he doesn't want "boy-racers" flying his aircraft.
Last night the Channel 4 Dispatches documentary - Secrets from the Cockpit - featured anonymous Ryanair pilots, who raised concerns over fuel policies, saying passengers are being put at risk.
Ryanair's accusing European pilot unions of smearing the airline in their campaign to unionise it and says it will sue Channel 4 over the documentary.
In it, it was claimed that pilots who burn the most fuel receive warning letters over the practice.
But Ryanair Chief, Michael O'Leary, says 90 percent of the time this is done to ensure that flight speeds are not too fast and that pilots aren't acting like "boy-racers":
