The terms of reference of an external examination into RTÉ has been agreed by Cabinet.
Media Minister Catherine Martin says it will see two expert advisory committees set up, undertaking two separate and parallel reviews.
The first will oversee Governance and Culture in the organization and the second Contractor Fees and HR matters.
A forensic accountant will also be appointed who will examine RTÉ's accounts - including the barter account used to pay Ryan Tubridy.
Media Minister Catherine Martin said the revelations over the past two weeks have been "shattering.
While announcing the reviews she said, "RTÉ has lost the trust of the people and of its own staff.
"Our job as Government is to help rebuild that trust."
The RTÉ Trade Union Group (TUG) has welcomed the confirmation this afternoon of the reviews.
It's chair Stuart Masterson said, "The TUG remains committed to advocating for the rights and interests of RTÉ employees throughout this challenging period.
"We urge all stakeholders to collaborate transparently and swiftly to rectify the damage caused and to rebuild a stronger and more accountable RTÉ for the benefit of both its workforce and the public."
