89 people have been killed on Irish roads since the start of the year to July 28th - 6 more road deaths when compared to the same period last year.
The Road Safety Authority and Gardai have today published their provisional review of progress in road safety.
It shows that 49 drivers, 10 passengers, 15 pedestrians, 9 motorcyclists and 6 pedal cyclists lost their lives since the start of the year.

This year, January and February were the worst months for road deaths.
79% of deaths happened on rural roads with a speed limit of 80km/h or higher.

Just this morning a man in his 50s was killed in a road crash in Co. Cork.
