Chevrolet, Citroen and Vauxhall cars were most likely to fail the NCT test in 2021.
Those brands made up the top three that recorded the most NCT failures, according to data from CarTakeBack.ie
Porsche, Lexus and Dacia cars had the highest pass rates.
The figures also show the NCT centre in Castlerea in Co Roscommon chad the highest failure rate, where 62% of cars failed the assessment.
It was followed by Cavan (60%), Clifden, Co Galway (57%), Carlow (56%) and Derrybeg, Co Donegal (55%).
The most common reasons for failing were front suspension, beams, break line-hoses, brake components and steering linkage.
