Ministers are also expected to make it mandatory to wear facemasks indoors in shops and other enclosed settings.
The reports on pubs staying shut until August 10th have been described as absolutely devastating by the Chairman of the Licensed Vintners Association.
Ronan Lynch has told Last Word "it's devastating news for the publicans, the staff and all the families attached."
He said pubs have bought stock in on the assumption that they were opening on Monday and have adapted their premises to allow for social distancing.
Mt Lynch said the viability of many pubs will be called into question if pubs remain shut until August 10th.
