Gardai have launched an appeal for information into the murder of baby Noleen Murphy in South Dublin almost 50 years ago.
The baby's body was found in a laneway in Dun Laoghaire in April 1973.
Baby Noleen was killed within 24 hours of being born.
Her body was then left in a car park off a laneway in Dun Laoghaire.
Her mother, Cynthia Owen, was only 11 years old at the time.
She says she had been raped and sold to men for sex.
47 years later, Det Supt Martin Creighton is appealing for information
“We have this tiny infant who was probably only about 24-hours old, left in the lane there, near where we are standing now,” he said.
“That is why we are making the appeal. To try and get information. To try and get justice for baby Noleen.”
As of today, no-one has ever been charged with the murder.
Anyone with information which will assist in this investigation is being asked to contact Gardai.
