The number of sexual offences recorded in the first 3 months of the year has seen its first year on year decrease since 2014.
3,114 incidents of sexual assault, rape and defilement were recorded in the 12 months leading up to the end of March.
The Central Statistics Office says this marks a year-on-year drop of 4.6%.
This was the first such decrease in recorded Sexual offences since the third quarter of 2014.
Most of the offences (31%) were reported to Gardai in the Dublin region.
The CSO report also highlights a 15% increase in the number of drug offences.
In the first three months of 2020, there were 2,040 more incidents of people being caught with possession for personal use when compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the number of times where people were recorded driving under the influence of drugs more than doubled to 1,540.
