Junior cycle students at a Co. Meath school will continue to learn from iPads instead of books, despite opposition from parents.

Ratoath College's Board of Management confirmed there will be no change to the policy, meaning incoming first years must buy an iPad for the start of term.

Hundreds of parents previously signed a petition calling on the school to return to text books.

The following letter has been sent to incoming students:

Ratoath

Nicola Kearns, who has three children attending Ratoath College, says their concerns are falling on deaf ears:

"I cannot describe the anger, frustration and disbelief of parents this morning in how they've received the news.

I am previously a second level teacher and inspector with the Department of Education.

I have never in my life encountered such stonewalling of parents."
