Turnover for pubs around the country is now equal to, or better than before the Covid pandemic.
However, the Vintners Federation is calling for more support for rural pubs, after many closed their doors.
Pubs were closed in March 2020 and it was almost two years before they were allowed to reopen again without restrictions.
Its incoming president, John Clendennen, has been speaking ahead of the VFI's annual conference.
He says while there is an air of optimism, the issue of transport to and from rural pubs needs to be addressed:
"Whether it be urban hackney, the likes of the local link, late night service, or an Uber model.
"I think we need to try and facilitate how we can actually, you know, connect uptowns and villages more to encourage people to, to move about.
"And there really is a sense of an appetite out there post-pandemic."
