President Michael D. Higgins new puppy has been named Misneach.
The Bernese Mountain Dog is five-months-old and is now in training alongside the President's other dog Bród.
His name is Irish and translates to 'courage'.
President Higgins was photographed with Misneach for the first time over the weekend walking through the grounds of Áras an Uachtaráin.
In September, the death of Michael D.Higgins dog Síoda was announced.
Síoda passed away following a short illness.
