The population of the Irish state is the highest it's ever been.
There are more than 5.1 million people here up 7.6%.
It is the highest recorded in a census since 1841 - before the Great Hunger.
The figures came from the Census forms we completed in April with preliminary results released by the Central Statistics Office released today.
The counties with the highest growth were in Leinster with Longford seeing a population rise from 2016 of 14%.

In Munster, Waterford also saw above-average population increases of more than 8%.
Both Leitrim and Roscommon also had above-average rises, however, the three counties in Ulster (Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan) did not.
Between 2016 and 2022 there was an increase in population in every county.
In the past six years, there was also a net inward migration of 190,000 people.
