The introduction of 25 bonus points for Higher Level Maths has resulted in a rise in college points this year.
Figures from the CAO show there has been an increase in points for science, engineering, technology, business and agriculture courses.
Meanwhile the State Examinations Commission is blaming staff cutbacks for the errors in Leaving Cert papers.
