Pieta is preparing for an increase in calls to its crisis helpline over the Christmas period.
The national suicide prevention charity is expecting a 15% rise in contacts this December, with more than 300 people expected to contact its helpline on Christmas Day alone.
It's launching its #HopeOverSilence campaign, launched today, asks people to light a candle in their window at 7 o'clock this evening, and speak up about their mental health.
They're also appealing to people to reach out to loved ones who may need support at this time of the year.
Tonight, we’re asking our supporters to light a candle at 7pm and place it in their windows for #HopeOverSilence 🕯️. These candles signify hope – signify that there is always someone to listen. pic.twitter.com/EM2WGphc3j
