Gardai are to be given new powers to fine people for not wearing a face covering.
The Health Minister is to introduce a schedule of fines ranging from 20 to 100 euro for anyone found in breach of public health rules.
However, Stephen Donnelly says there will be no sanction for house parties.
He says the powers Gardaí have now under existing legislation should be enough to tackle gatherings in private homes.
'I will be introducing legislation shortly which will add a table of penalties, for example, a €20, €50 or €100 fine for certain things.
