Cervical cancer survivor and patient advocate Lorraine Walsh has quit the steering committee set up to oversee changes in the Cervical Check programme.
Ms Walsh was one of the 221 women whose smear tests were read incorrectly and developed cervical cancer.
She made the announcement that she was stepping down last night after the findings of a review of over 1,000 slides found that CervicalCheck missed an opportunity to identify cervical cancer in 159 women - 12 of whom later died.
The 221 plus advocacy group, set up for women affected by the CervicalCheck scandal, says it can't stand over the report carried out by UK experts.
