People over the age of 70 will not be fully vaccinated against covid-19 until mid-May.
The delay in the national vaccine roll out programme was revealed by the Health Minister in the Dail this afternoon.
Minister Stephen Donnelly said the schedule he has "would suggest that the group will have finished their second doses by mid-May."
He also stressed the timeline depends on supplies arriving into the Republic on time.
The government's initial target was for all over-70s to have been vaccinated by the end of March.
Supply issues as well as opting for use of the harder-to-store mRNA vaccines has led to the delay.
